Light the first candle on the evening of December 12 and the eighth candle on the evening of December 19, 2017
Chanukah is the joyous eight-day celebration during which Jews commemorate the victory of the Maccabees over the armies of Syria in 165 B.C.E. and the subsequent liberation and "rededication" of the Temple in Jerusalem. Around the world, Jews light Chanukah menorahs for eight nights, remembering miraculous stories and corageous heroes. At Judea Reform, we have a special service, and we often have a Chanukah part with latkes and games and music. Want to learn more about Chanukah?
