Social Action Sundays

Social Action Sundays (SAS) are held once per month, bringing together congregants for two ongoing, hands-on projects.

1) You can knit or crochet blankets for Project Linus, a national organization that distributes handmade blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need.

2) In partnership with the rest of Durham’s Jewish community we provide and serve dinner for over 200 people on the fourth Sunday of each month at Urban Ministries’ Durham Community Kitchen. We've adapted how we are doing this during the COVID Crisis. Please see our new signup genius for info: https://www.signupgenius.com/index.cfm?go=s.signup&urlid=30e0f4cadad29a1fe3-jewish1&view=calendar

For Sunday, April 26, please deliver items to the waiting delivery cars at Judea between 12:30 and 1pm. This is a contactless delivery, where you will put your items into one of the two vehicles going to Urban Ministries. Vehicles depart JRC at 1pm. You may also contact Judy for possible alternate options.

  • Make casserole(s) at home and bring to JRC at specified time (see recipe HERE)
  • Donate ingredients for dinner, including casseroles  Sign Up for SAS Dinner Ingredients
