New year: new literature? Are you looking for your next great read? Participate in our new Jewish Book Council Book Club! We’re reading books across genres over the next year, with Jewish themes or authors selected from the Jewish Book Council booklist. JRC member Joyce Gordon is convening us for a year of reading and conversation.
Join us for one book - or all of them! We’ll meet up offsite at The Refectory Cafe in Durham, where you can grab dinner, a snack, or a drink, and enjoy a great discussion.
Our October book is the new fantasy novel The Maiden And Her Monster by Maddie Martinez.
We recommend checking books out from your local library, picking them up at your local indie bookstore, or trying an audible or e-book version by visiting www.bookshop.org.
Subsequent books and genres are:
December, Memoir: Happily: A Personal History - with Fairy Tales
February, Nonfiction: Forbidden: A 3,000-Year History of Jews and the Pig
April, Holocaust: The Escape Artist: The Man Who Broke Out of Auschwitz to Warn The World
June, Food Writing: Cooking alla Giudia: A Celebration of The Jewish Food of Italy
August: Fiction: Sisters of Fortune
Registration is preferred, so we can reserve adequate seating at LOCATION. Sign up for the first meeting: October 22, 2025, 7:00 pm at this link: https://tinyurl.com/JRC25-26BookClub
