JRC Cemetery Third Annual Kever Dorot gathering:
“May Their Memories Be For A Blessing”
We invite all JRC members, those who have loved ones buried at the JRC Cemetery, those whose loved ones are buried elsewhere, and those whose loved ones are without markers, to participate in our second annual Kever Dorot gathering at the JRC Cemetery. The previous gatherings have been profoundly moving and meaningful for all the participants, especially as we enter the Days of Awe.
It is an ancient Jewish custom to observe Kever Dorot(grave of the generations) during the High Holy Day Season by going out to our cemeteries and remembering our beloved family and community members who have departed this earth. This is a reminder that the introspection that we are required to do cannot be accomplished without looking back upon those who have had an effect on determining who we are.
Rabbi Soffer will lead us in a ritual asking for peaceful eternal rest for the departed and an invocation for aid to the living. JRC Cemetery Board members will be available to answer your questions.
We invite everyone to bring stones, shells and other items to share that we can leave on grave markers of those you loved and those whom you knew, and those for whom no family member is able to come and honor them. We will have maps available to help you find the graves of those buried in the Cemetery. An all-terrain wheelchair will also be available.
RSVPs greatly appreciated so we can plan ahead. For more information contact Nancy Luberoff, Cemetery Co-President cemetery@judeareform.org
