Congregational Information Session on Refugee Resettlement and Welcoming Immigrants

Wednesday, November 3, 2021 28 Cheshvan 5782

7:00 PM - 8:30 PMZoom

Join us to learn about the many ways that Judea Reform Congregation is putting our Jewish values

into action to welcome the stranger!

Judea Reform is stepping up to welcome newly-arrived Afghans and to provide support to others who have been in U.S. a while and need help to earn a certification or skill that will enable them to build a more financially secure future. We have other projects serving refugees and immigrants including the Jewish Vaccine Team and Food Security team that are seeking volunteers for specific events and MORE!

The need for refugee and immigrant support has never been greater:
  • the United States is processing the largest evacuation of foreign nationals since the Vietnam War, tens of thousands of Afghans are being resettled in the US as humanitarian asylum seekers
  • the U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program has a restored annual goal of resettling 125,000 refugees in the US
  • the ongoing COVID pandemic and ensuing economic crises are disproportionately affecting immigrants
  • the crisis at the US-Mexico border continues to grow as global conflicts, disasters, and climate change are driving people from their homelands.
