Join Rabbi Bender for a five part course on Pirkei Avot, one of the most well-known and most-cited Jewish texts.
Pirkei Avot’s greatest hits include:
“If I am only for myself, who am I?” (1:14)
“The world stands on three things: Torah, worship, and acts of loving kindness” (1:2)
“You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to desist from it” (2:21)
But what else is hidden in this book of ethics that exists within the mass of the Mishnah? Explore through the text itself the various themes and forms of knowledge given to us by our rabbis. We will wrestle with the wisdom passed down to us and reflect on its applications in our world today.
This is a text study based class for adults, is hybrid, and will be capped in person to 35 people.
