A Virtual Hands-On

Mosaic Art Workshop

The Women's Group of Judea Reform invites you to join congregant friends for a Virtual Hands On Mosaic Workshop. Create a beautiful piece of Mosaic Art in three guided sessions (90 minutes each) on Zoom led by artist and JRC congregant Gabrielle Rousso.

Please register by September 12 by completing the form at the bottom of this page. Class enrollment is limited to 10 adult members.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

The Mosaic Art Workshop will take place on Zoom, and will be held in three distinct (90 minutes) sessions from 6:30 pm- 8:00 pm beginning on Wednesday, October 21. Here is an outline of the workshop's sessions:

  • Session 1: Wednesday, October 21 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Participants will learn a brief history of mosaics and view fabulous mosaic installations from around the world. You will learn how to plan out your design and create your own personal piece of art from glass tiles, ceramic shapes, found objects, beads and jewelry.
  • Session 2: Wednesday, October 28 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. We will continue working on our pieces and enjoy the opportunity to socialize virtually.
  • Session 3:  Wednesday, November 4 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. We will finish up our projects, and receive instruction on grouting our masterpieces and have show and tell.

MATERIALS:

The $65.00 per person fee covers the cost of a mosaic kit of customized materials and supplies including a base form, either a Hamsa Hand or a Star of David; a generous selection of mosaic tiles; beads; accent pieces; and mosaic adhesives and grout. Feel free to add found objects from your home to personalize your mosaic, and you may order additional or specialty materials to use at witsendmosaic.com or mosaicartsupply.com

Color palette choice: Each kit will include white and black tiles, adhesive, beads, murano beads, special found objects, a jewelry piece, and base form. You will choose from one of these color palettes: Blue, Green, Purple or  Neutral (Creams, tans, beiges, browns) or Golden Yellow, Orange, Red.

Your mosaic kit will be provided via contactless curbside pick-up in Durham or Chapel Hill on October 6. Details will be confirmed when you register.
