Summary
The Education Administrator (EA) serves to support the education programs of Judea Reform Congregation (JRC). This position is part-time (up to 20 hours/week) and reports to the Director of Youth Education & Family Engagement. The EA is responsible for the logistics and details related to the operation of the Judea Reform Religious School.

JRC operates many spiritual, cultural, and social programs throughout the year including the vibrant and well-regarded Religious School, which fosters Jewish learning and identity among our members’ children.Our Religious School serves students from preschool through seventh grade during the months of August through May.

Students in Pre-K to Grade 2 meet on Sunday mornings from 9:30 am to 12:00 (noon); students in Grades 3 to 6 meet on Sunday mornings from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Our 7 th program, Darchei Mitzvah, meets at 9:00 am on Saturdays.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Education Administrator will oversee the overall administrative elements of the education programs at JRC. Through partnership with the Director of Youth Education & Family Engagement and JRC colleagues. Our work during the week prepares for our focal program on Sunday mornings. During the Religious School hours the Education Administrator will be the point person for teachers, parents, students, and other staff. This will include handling any emergent health issues that arise among students, preparing materials for teachers, finding teacher substitutes (when necessary) and other relevant activities as determined by the Director of Youth & Family Engagement.


1) Operations
• Serve as Religious School liaison for JRC staff, parents, and teachers

• Work with teachers to identify room set-up needs and communicate with Building & Grounds Manager/custodial staff well in advance of any events

2) Program Management
    • Work with Director of Youth Education & Family Engagement to create publicity for Religious School programs and activities
• Assist in the planning of and attend Religious School events – coordinating food, RSVPS, payments, and materials
• Draft and manage Religious School communications, including through social media, in consultation with Director of Youth Education & Family Engagement.

3) Administrative Responsibilities
• Answer and respond to queries regarding the Religious School in person
• Coordinate material requests from teachers and order as needed
• Create and update databases as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Youth Education & Family Engagement
Work Schedule: During the school year (September through May), specifically:
  - Sundays: 8:30 am to 1:30 pm
  - Tuesday; Wednesday or Thursday; and Friday: 14.5 hours (ideally minimum of 3      hours per day)
  - Some evenings (as needed for planned events, such as grade-level dinners, Havdalah events, or meetings, etc.)
  - Note: During summer months, Sunday hours shift to weekdays.

Required Qualifications
• At least one (1) year of relevant work experience
• Strong computer skills, including Google office suite; ability to understand/learn databases
• Attention to detail
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• A self-starter and a finisher with the ability to meet deadlines; demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple activities and responsibilities; ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Congenial, professional, and positive attitude when interacting with JRC coworkers and Religious School teachers, parents, and students
• Flexible, congenial, and collaborative with ability to build effective working relationships inside and outside the organization

Additional Qualifications (preferred but not required)
• Knowledge of the Jewish community environment, education and ritual practices highly desirable
• Valid driver’s license, proof of current insurance, and reliable vehicle for running errands


Compensation: $ 17-20 per hour (based on experience)
Start date: By Mid-July
Work hours: Ability to work up to 20 hours/week
