Mishkan HaNefesh for Youth Prayerbook Campaign

UPDATE AS OF JUNE 20, 2018:

We have exceeded our goal! Thanks to your generosity, we raised $5,858 in just 2 weeks, allowing us to underwrite the purchase of 300 copies of Mishkan HaNefesh for Youth, a machzor for the High Holy Days. These meaningful and beautifully illustrated prayerbooks, now dedicated to your loved ones, will be used to enhance our family worship starting this year. Todah rabah!

The Mishkan HaNefesh for Youth Prayerbook Campaign is now complete, but you can continue to support Judea Reform Congregation by dedicating a copy of Mishkan T'filah (our weekly Shabbat prayerbook) or Etz Hayim (our printed Torah and commentary), making a gift to our philanthropic funds, learning about our Matching Challenge or Life & Legacy Program, and sponsoring an oneg or Shabbat Luncheon.

------------

In 2016, Judea Reform joined hundreds of other Reform congregations in adopting our movement’s new High Holy Day prayer book, Mishkan HaNefesh, allowing us to embrace the ritual and ethical dimensions of the High Holy Days in the context of current worship and practice in Reform Judaism. This was made possible by the many congregants who contributed to the purchase of the books by dedicating copies in memory or honor of loved ones.

We are very excited to announce that Mishkan HaNefesh for Youth, a machzor for High Holy Day family services is now available.

This machzor maintains our traditions and adds to them. It evokes our history, with Zipporah and Miriam joining Moses and Jethro, and includes prayer that recognizes individual, family, and community.

We are especially proud that former Judea Reform clergy, Rabbi Leah Berkowitz, assisted with editing this volume, making our desire to include this machzor in our High Holy Days worship all the more personal. Our goal is to raise $5,400 to fund the purchase of 300 copies so we can begin using the new machzor for Judea Reform’s High Holy Days family services this year.

We are pleased to provide all congregants the opportunity to dedicate one or more copies of Mishkan HaNefesh for Youth. Your gift of $36 for one copy, $72 for two copies, or $90 for three copies will be recognized with a personalized bookplate either “in honor of”, “in memory of”, or “with gratitude to” one or more individuals (such as a parent or grandparent, child or grandchild, or perhaps a beloved friend or teacher). Year after year, the individuals whose names are inscribed are recognized and remembered anew by friends, family, even strangers. As we pray from books dedicated to and by our loved ones, these inscriptions form a bond that unites our community and crosses the generations.

Your gift will ensure that our High Holy Days family service is even more engaging and meaningful to our youth and the whole family, reflecting our commitment to prayer that is both grounded in the past and inspiring to future generations.
